Chief Scott
W. Blue
Chief Blue is a native of Ashburn, Georgia. He graduated
from Denbigh High School in Newport News Va. in 1978. His career
began in fire and emergency services with the United
States Air Force serving with the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing.
During his military career he obtained an Associates of Applied
Science in Fire Science Technology from the Community College of
the Air Force. Afterward he was as a firefighter and emergency
medical technician with the Hinesville Fire Dept. In 1985 he was
hired by the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office were he served
with the Hazardous Material Division. In January 2000 he was
appointed Fire Chief and EMA Director for Worth County, Georgia.
During this time he obtained his Certified Emergency Manager
designation. In June of 2003 he was appointed as Chief of Heard
County Fire & Emergency Services. Chief Blue holds multiple
certifications including Firefighter, Emergency Medical
Technician, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, Fire Instructor,
Fire Safety Educator, Company Officer and Chief Officer. He
belongs to and is active in many industry organizations
including the Georgia State Fire Chiefs Association,
International Association of Fire Chiefs, National Fire
Protection Association and Georgia Association of Emergency
Medical Services.
Chief Blue is married to Dale Blue and they have 4 children and
three grandchildren. They are active members of the Franklin
United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoys playing
golf, watching most sports and spending time with his grandkids.
